Zacks’ analyst wrote, “Hormel Foods reported impressive results for first-quarter fiscal 2015. Earnings came in at $0.69 per share, up 21.1% from the year-ago tally and also surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.64. Growth in Specialty Foods, Jennie-O Turkey Store and International & Other segments escalated the net revenue to $2,395.0 million in the quarter, an increase of 6.8% year over year. Hormel Foods is making concerted efforts to improve its business on the back of innovative solutions and value-added marketing strategies. However, the company’s Refrigerated Food and Grocery division is facing certain internal and external headwinds. The company is also exposed to severe threats of market rivalry within the industry. Considering these factors, we prefer to remain on the sidelines and maintain a Neutral recommendation on the company. “
