I personally consider the aspect of knowing my supplier procurement organization a big advantage to your negotiation success. Especially in the indirect procurement space where you are buying a solution from the supplier. The stronger the supplier procurement team the better the pricing we get. In my previous role I did establish contacts with the procurement team of my suppliers and worked with the closely to influence overall costs of the solutions.
