5.9 Effect of changes in foreign curreny exchange rates
The average I index score of 0.7676 in Table XI indicates a moderate level of disclosure harmonization for foreign currency transactions and transactions. Table X reveals thai Bangladeshi companies disclose less compared to their Indian and Pakistan counterparts. With regard to changes in foreign exchange rates, the I index (0.9555) shows that the extent of disclosure harmonization is high for the amount of exchange differences included in the profit and loss statement. The chi square value of 0.571 is not statistically significant at tha 0.05 level,indicating that no significant differences exist among countries in disclosure of this item. In contrast, a moderate level of disclosure harmonization exists in the disclosure items of net exchange differences classified as equity as a separate component of equity; reconciliation of the amount fo such exchange differences at the beginning and of the period; and the enterprise's foreign currency risk management policy.
