The effect of weaning age on growth performance and
faecal counts of E. coli and lactic acid bacteria at 2 weeks
postweaningis shown in Table 3. Pig health was good and
there were no deaths recorded during the experiment.
With each increase in weaning age there was acorresponding increase in pig weight at weaning (Po0.001)
and at 2 weeks postweaning (Po0.001).Pigs weaned at 5
weeks had greater ADG (Po0.001)and ADFI(Po0.001)
than pigs weaned at 3 and 4 weeks of age. Both ADG and
ADFI were similar for pigs weaned at 3 and 4 weeks.
Weaning age did not influence FCR between weaning and
2 weeks postweaning(P40.05).
