Bohol in the Central Visayas Region, is an island province east of Cebu. It is popular for its Chocolate Hills, a rolling terrain of conical and almost symmetrical-shaped mounds of hills; Philippine Tarsier, one of the smallest, and endangered endemic species of primates; and white-sand beaches. The Boholanos, said to be the friendliest among the local groups, sealed a "blood compact" of friendship in 1565 with the Spanish explorers and future colonizers.
