Samuel Burns is a full-time landscape photographer who specializes in long exposure techniques and large format cameras. Both take patience. It’s not unusual for him to take 30 minutes setting up a shot (read about the full process here), then waiting up to eight hours for the long exposure. In general, he doesn’t mind the long wait. “A one hour exposure provides an experience of contemplation and relaxation,” he says, although “anything over three hours becomes a painful waiting game. Nevertheless I quietly persist, driven by the chase of that elusive photo, which may one day satisfy my desire for perfection.”
