INTRODUCTION
Diabetes is a self-managed disease because patients provide
at least 99% of their own care (Feinglos & Bethel, 2008).
Self-efficacy is an essential factor influencing self-care behavior
in patients with type 2 diabetes (Wu et al., 2007). In
Malaysia, there are very few articles on self-efficacy and selfcare
behavior in type 2 diabetes care. It is important to assess
the correlations between degree of self-efficacy and self-care
behavior and investigate which factors have an influence on
self-efficacy before incorporating the concept of self-efficacy
into nursing interventions.
