For glasshouse and field experiments, the antagonistic bacteria were mass multiplied on King's 462 Indian Phytopathology B medium agar plates. The inoculum of R. so/ani was produced according to 8haktavatsalam et al. (1978) with minor modification, by growing the fungus for 15 days on stem cuttings of Typha angustata (an aquatic weed), soaked with a solution containing 2% sucrose and I % peptone.
