Miss Turner is apparently unware of today’s economic situation. Gone are the days of “pin money”. Most working women have to work, to augment the family budget in order to feed and clothe their families, not necessarily to provide the “material things of life”, (I assume Miss Turner means those commodities other than food, clothes, rates, mortgage or rent, insurance premiums, many house repairs, etc.) those of us who also enjoy our work are fortunate, many do not.
