Wat Kaew Korawaram is a large Buddhist temple located on a hill overlooking Krabi downtown. Its origins date back to 1887, when 200 families settled at Baan Paknam (‘Estuary Village’ was the name of Krabi Town at that time). Monks and novices who coincidently arrived first established a dwelling which would become Wat Kaew Korawaram later on. The original ordination centre of Wat Kaew is right opposite the actual temple, and nowadays hosts The Krabi Contemporary Art Museum. The main access to the temple is off Maharaj Road, right opposite Soi 6.
