Adjusting column width
When Word creates a table, it initially makes each column the same width.
Having equal columns isn’t appropriate for many tables, however, because
the data in each column is rarely uniform in size. For example, the first
column of a table might contain the names of famous composers, and the
second column might list their three most famous concertos. Obviously, the
second column is wider than the first.
Fortunately, Word doesn’t impose uniform column widths. You can manually
adjust the width of each column individually or let Word adjust the width of
each column automatically based on the contents of the column.
