Considering that yield data are as urgent a requirement as their accessability,
data bases will be the obvious means to provide the latter. As outlined previously,
the parameters to be monitored for comparability are numerous.
Their satisfactory accommodation in existing data bases of an inventorial
type with a broad spectrum of descriptors seems therefore inappropriate.
It is therefore suggested that supplementary data bases are established which
specialize on production data of various kinds.
Basically the introduction of prescriptors for such supplementary yield
data bases should include those criteria which have been mentioned above.
Apart from species names, synonyma and geographic description of sampling
site (longitude and latitude), uniform descriptors are to be used on biophysical
data, phenology, morphology, on parameters relevant to direct
productivity, as outlined in this section, on harvest technologies used, and
on methods applied for statistical analysis.
The construction of the data bases should allow rapid searches, and their
location and operational facilities must ensure an easy access.
