This went on for a few days until I found myself back down South In Krabi Town, which is a town over from Ao Nang. Lee is similar to me in that we love a challenge. I had heard of the Tiger Temple stairs and immedietly knew it would be my next must do activity. We rented a scooter for 200 Baht ($6.44) and 15 minutes later were staring at a sign the said “1,237 Steps to Top Mountain.” A vertical mile up. The steps were as steep as any I had come across, the sweat rolling off me was as thick as any I had ever shed before, and the view from the top was as breathtaking as any I had ever laid eyes on. A golden Buddah around 40 feet high greeted us as we arrived at step number 1,237 (not that anybody was counting). The view. The View! Clear skies allowed for an eagle eye view of Southern Thailand. I could see massive and gorgeous rocks jutting out of the Earth, I could see islands miles and miles away, and I could see the pure unadultured beauty of a world that can only be witnessed by those with a true passion for travel. It was the kind of view that could never get old. We eventually peeled ourselves away from the top and made our way down. Surprising me on the way was my first pack of Thailand Monkeys. There were a dozen or so of them all huddled around and for the most part very friendly. Monkeys, how can you not love them? Next up was lunch followed by the 30 kilometer search by scooter for a cave, any cave. I don’t know the name of the one we found but there was a small temple, a cave, and no tourists. Another winner. We spent the next 45 minutes cave exploring. It takes an adventurous spirit (and a bunch of stupidity) to climb around an unknown cave but it’s just another thing I’ll blame on my youth. It was a fun 45 minutes as we worked our way through the cave following the Bushmans Code (no turning back!). Another unique moment that will be impossible to forget
